Investigation of fabric movement in a tumble dryer for the development of drying methods for wool fabrics to save energy

Tumble dryers are widely used for drying garments, but felting shrinkage can be caused to wool garments during the tumble process. To dry fabrics or in dryers, flat function has been introduced dryers; however, energy efficiency is very low. The current study investigated fabric movement at different rotation speeds dryer and their resultant performances terms of specific moisture extraction rate, evenness drying, shrinkage, smoothness. For shrink-resist-treated fabrics, speed keep projectile motion accompanied with occasional tumbling could achieve better efficiency, uniformity, untreated introducing vertical improve heat exchange between hot air, resulting an increase approximately 30% compared motionless drying. Wool controlled less than 2% smooth appearance grade 3.5 after under recommended condition. This help manufacturers design optimal methods potential reduction consumption.
